Vive Developments proposed demolition of 254, 262, to build 10-storey “Ophelia, “a modern Miesian addition to Queen Street South – one of the oldest streets in Kitchener."
2018: ACO opposed demolition before Heritage Kitchener Advisory Committee.
2019: Kitchener Council voted 8:3 to refuse permission to demolish both houses.
2019: The high-rise is built two metres behind 134-year-old 262 Queen St. South and 127- year-old 254 Queen Street South. Heritage buildings squeezed but saved.
