Built heritage and cultural heritage landscapes are recognized as an important part of what shapes Prince Edward County's (PEC) distinct identity and special sense of place. We recognize our heritage as inclusive of pre and post settlement.
PEC is rich in built heritage and cultural heritage landscapes, as well as intangible heritage particular to the County. Currently, PEC is experiencing extreme development pressure on farmland, settlement areas, shorelines, and natural environment areas, which
threatens our heritage.
ACO PEC will advocate for the preservation and protection of heritage within our boundaries. We will be proactive rather than reactive. As a branch of ACO, we will provide the opportunity for County heritage groups to speak with one strong voice when needed, and provide access to a treasury of experience, resources, political advocacy and other benefits offered through the ACO organization.
ACO PEC will strive to assist our municipality in strengthening the preservation of heritage in Prince Edward County.
