ACO Preservation Works! study by Ian McGillivray describes this “rare example of a frame stagecoach style railway hotel in proximity to a federally-designated, 1858, Casimir Gzowski era train station still in operation.” Habitat for Humanity, promised to “Reconstruct the hotel as a home and finish the exterior to look as close as possible to what the hotel might have looked like at the time it was built.”

Sarah Golan, Senior Manager of Building, Habitat for Humanity, Jan 10, 2020: “We are working closely with Town staff to come up with a suitable design that fits the neighbourhood and the unique origin of this property. After several discussions and advice from a heritage specialist, we have completed dismantling and cataloging the beams of the original building to be integrated in the rebuild. We look forward to completing the rest of the development process this year and hopefully starting construction by the end of the year.”
